There are few more intense feelings than those experienced during a parachute jump, where the vertiginous free-fall combines with a gentle flight to the ground. In the case of Empuriabrava, you can experience all this while also enjoying unbeatable views of part of the Costa Brava.
Empuriabrava
is one of the places in Spain with the longest tradition in parachute jumping. Flying up to an altitude of 4,000 metres and diving out into space, whether solo or tandem, is an unforgettable but not unrepeatable experience. Many people want to come back and feel the adrenaline of the freefall again.
First-timers will make a tandem jump. In this case, a highly-experienced professional instructor is tied to the student and guides him or her during the skydive.
The activity begins at an altitude of 4,000 metres and the first part of the skydive is one minute of free-falling at 200 km/h. At 1,500 metres, the instructor opens the parachute and a more relaxed flight begins that can last up to five minutes until you land.
Skydive Empuriabrava
is one of the best professional parachute jumping centres. It offers tandem courses with few physical restrictions: minimum height is 1.20 metres and weight must be between 35 and 90 kilos. When skydiving in winter, it's a good idea to wrap up with two jumpers, one of which should be made of fleece, gloves and comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict movement.
A routine that leads to solo skydives
Skydive Empuriabrava also offers the PAC course (accelerated course in freefalling). After a first tandem jump, you can do seven more solo jumps, supervised by two instructors. Both will jump with the learner but with each skydive they will progressively give the learner greater freedom until he or she skydives alone.
An extra minute of free-fall is added in each skydive. During this process, the learner will learn techniques to control stability, altitude, opening and handling of the parachute, as well as freefall manoeuvres such as spins, somersaults and drifting. The seven course levels are filmed by an air-to-air digital video system in order to evaluate progress.
If you have less time, another option is the Mini PAC course. This combines a tandem skydive with a solo dive, always under the control of the professional instructors. As is the case with the PAC course, the minimum age requirement is 16.
